The Tampa Bay Rays fell to the Toronto Blue Jays by a final score of 6-2. The loss drops the Rays to 69-52 and they lose a game on the AL East leading Boston Red Sox who defeated the New York Yankees 6-1.
Roberto Hernandez  (6-13, 5.00 ERA) worked the first 5.2 innings and allowed 5R/4ER on 7 hits striking out 3 walking 1 and hitting a batter. He allowed a solo home run to Jose Bautista  and a solo home run to Adam Lind . Both home runs came with Hernandez ahead in the count 1-2.
J.A. Happ  (3-2, 4.93) returned to Tropicana Field for the first time since being struck in the head by a line drive off the bat of Desmond Jennings  on May 7th. He went 5.1 innings allowing 2R/ER on 5 hits striking out 5 and walking 1.
The Rays offense left 8 men on base and scored both their runs in the bottom of the 4th on a Ben Zobrist  sacrifice fly to drive in Jason Bourgeois  and a Yunel Escobar  single to drive in Evan Longoria 
Hernandez left the game with a Brett Lawrie  at 2nd base and 2-outs with the Rays trailing 4-2. Alex Torres  came in an Lawrie attempted to steal 3rd. Torres stepped off the mound but threw wildly past Evan Longoria and Lawrie came in to score giving the Blue Jays a 5-2 lead.
Bradon Gomes, who had been on the disabled list since May 7th (right lat strain) replaced Torres in the 8th inning and allowed a solo homer to Adam Lind on a 0-2 pitch to give the Jays a 6-2 lead.
Cesar Ramos  replaced Gomes and worked a perfect 9th.
