HCSO Confirms Mike Williams’ Stabbing the Result of an Altercation
More details have emerged in the domestic dispute between Mike Williams and his younger brother that left the Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver with a stab wound in his leg and his brother behind bars.
Eric Baylor, 23, faces a felony charge of aggravated battery/domestic violence after deputies were called to Williams’ Avila home Sunday evening.
Williams, 26, told deputies that the two were “horsing around.”
A “probable cause statement” released by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office to Sports Talk Florida paints a much different picture of the events, however.
At approximately 4:59 p.m., Williams and Baylor began to argue. During the altercation, Baylor picked up a kitchen knife and “intentionally stabbed the victim in the anterior portion of his left thigh near the knee.”
Williams “suffered a puncture wound and was taken by ambulance to the hospital where stitches were required to close the wound.”
He was released later that evening from St. Joseph’s Hospital. Baylor had fled the scene prior to deputies and paramedics arriving.
The report also stated that witnesses “testified that the subjects were fighting and observed the defendant with the knife during the fight,” conflicting with Williams’ account.
In the two 911 calls that were released Monday, both callers requested police in addition to an ambulance.
Police issued a warrant for Baylor Sunday night. On Monday at approximately 10 p.m., he turned himself in. He was held on $1,000 bail in connection to the incident.HCSO Confirms Mike Williams' Stabbing the Result of an Altercation by Jenna Laine
