Giants Prepare For Eagles With Slim Playoff Hopes

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. Defensive end Justin Tuck, who missed the Giants loss in Baltimore last week with a shoulder injury, is expected to practice today when the Giants begin preparations for the regular-season finale against Philadelphia. The Giants host the Eagles Sunday at 1 p.m.

Several other Giants will not practice, including running back Ahmad Bradshaw (knee/foot), defensive tackle Chris Canty (knee) and offensive linemen Chris Snee (hip) and David Baas (hip/shoulder).

The other players on the Giants early injury list were cornerback Prince Amukamara (hamstring), tight end Travis Beckum (knee), wide receiver Hakeem Nicks (knee) and safeties Kenny Phillips (knee) and Tyler Sash (hamstring). Their status will be updated later.

*The Giants enter the Eagles game with a chance to make the playoffs. They must beat Philadelphia and Chicago, Minnesota and Dallas must all lose. But after suffering lopsided losses the last two weeks to the Falcons and Ravens, Tom Coughlin had no interest in discussing those scenarios today.

My concern is that our team plays well in the 16th game of the year for us, Coughlin said. Thats my concern. I would like to see our team play an outstanding football game, a game in which the execution of our team is significantly better than what weve seen over the last couple of weeks. The answers to all of the speculative questions you want to ask, maybe theyll come at some point, but theyre not going to be answered now. What Im looking for is improvement in our football team and how we execute offensively and defensively.

Coughlin spoke to the players this morning about more than improving execution.

Thats what I talked to our team about this morning, was pride, honor, dignity, Coughlin said. Play the game the way were capable of playing the game. Finish this season with a game we can all be proud of.

I think theyre a group of outstanding character people who listen to what is said and I think that it does strike them. No one wants to finish the season like we have the last couple of games. Im sure that will resonate a little on their part.
