Stanton Sets New Marlins Record In Loss To Braves
The Marlins failed to build on their 2-0 lead after the first inning and lost to the Braves 3-2 tonight.
The Marlins record now sits at 28-26 and they are 1 GB of Atlanta for first place in the division. With the Nationals winning tonight, they gain a game on the Marlins for second place.
Tom Koehler picks up the loss and moves to 4-5 on the year. He pitched 7 innings and allowed 3 earned runs on 7 hits and 4 walks and struck out 5 batters.
The Braves broke through against Koehler in the sixth inning with an RBI single by Chris Johnson and took the lead in the 7th inning on an RBI triple by Jason Heyward and a sacrifice fly by B.J. Upton.
Braves starter Julio Teheran didn’t provide the team with a strong pitching performance, as he also helped himself out by scoring after htiting a leadoff double in the 7th inning.
Once the Braves took the lead, though, the Marlins got just one hit over the last three innings and went 1-2-3 in the 9th against Craig Kimbrel.

Turner looks to feed of his last outing in which he didn’t allow a run over 6 1/3 innings against the Brewers .
Santana, on the other hand, looks to rediscover the rhythm that brought him success early in the season. He allowed 6 earned runs over 5 innings in a no-decision to the Red Sox in his last outing.
