George Warhop Named Bucs Offensive Line Coach

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have officially named George Warhop as the team’s offensive line coach, filling one of the final pieces of Lovie Smith’s staff just in time for next week’s Senior Bowl.
Earlier reports had linked Tony Sparano to the position, but he went back to the Oakland Raiders on a two-year extension. The move caught some members of the new staff by surprise and forced the team to look elsewhere, which is how Warhop emerged.
Warhop spent the previous five seasons as offensive line coach for the Cleveland Browns, tutoring the likes of Pro Bowlers Joe Thomas and Alex Mack, and working alongside new Bucs defensive line coach Joe Cullen and tight ends coach Jon Embree.
Prior to that, he worked with the San Francisco 49ers from 2005 to 2008, the Dallas Cowboys from 2003-2004 and the Arizona Cardinals from 1998-2002, where he worked alongside now-senior defensive assistant Larry Marmie.
Warhop got his start in the league with the St. Louis Rams, where he served as assistant offensive line coach from 1996-1997.
Prior to that, he spent 11 seasons in the college ranks, with stints at Kansas from 1984 to 1986, Vanderbilt from 1987 to 1987, New Mexico from 1990-1991, Southern Methodist in 1993 and Boston College from 1994-1995.
He also spent two seasons working for the London Monarchs in the now-defunct NFL Europe, from 1991-1992.
Warhop played center at Cincinnati, which is where he got his start as a student assistant in 1983.George Warhop Named Bucs Offensive Line Coach by Jenna Laine
