The Marlins were able to win in extra-innings tonight over the Braves to extend their winning streak to a modest two games.

Tom Koehler got the start in this one and pitched well, allowing just one run on five hits, two walks and seven strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings pitched.

Julio Teheran opposed him and pitched equally well, allowing one run over seven strong innings with eleven strikeouts.

The Braves got off to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning on an RBI groundout by Chris Johnson, and that lead would hold until the top of the fifth inning.

With two outs in the top half of the fifth inning, Jarrod Saltalamacchia got Miami into the hit and run columns with a solo blast on a 81 mph first-pitch changeup from Teheran, his tenth on the season.

Unfortunately, this would be all the offense in this one until extra-inning, when the Marlins took the lead in the top half of the tenth inning.

Christian Yelich singled to lead off the inning, and after Jordany Valdespin bunted him to second Shae Simmons walked both Giancarlo Stanton and Casey McGehee to load the bases with one out.

Next up was Garrett Jones, and he gave Miami a 3-1 lead on a 83 mph first-pitch splitter from Simmons, a lead they would not relinquish in this one.

Steve Cishek came on to work the bottom of the tenth inning, retiring the Braves 2-4 hitters in order with two strikeouts to collect his 22nd save of the season.

With the victory, Miami moves to 46-52 on the season, 8.5 games back of the Nationals for first place in the division.
