FSU’s QB Competition Dominates Headlines

Seminoles_Jameis_Winston_2013Florida State’s quarterback competition dominated the team’s headlines this preseason, and with good reason.

The Seminoles simply didn’t have any other position battles that were as intense.

An overall lack of attrition contributed to limited competition for spots on the depth chart. Aside from their quarterback, their kicker, a receiver and four defensive players, the Seminoles haven’t had to replace any other starters.

A change in scheme and the number of players rotated onto the field also led to few contentious races during this year’s camp. The shifts were especially clear on defense, where FSU is instituting new defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt’s multi-set system, with rotations of players factoring heavily into the game plan.
