The Florida State Seminoles have established them selves as a legitimate BCS Championship contender. The first 2013 Bowl Championship Series poll is out and FSU trails only Alabama in the rankings. Saturday nights 51-14 crushing of Clemson no doubt helped the Seminoles vault into the championship picture.
Oregon, Ohio State, Missouri, Stanford, Miami, Baylor, Clemson, and Texas Tech round out the the first BCS Top Ten. Hey there is a long way to go before FSU will be playing for the BCS Championsip game but starting out at #2 is not a bad place to get the party started.
FSU has replaced Clemson in the #3 spot in both the new Associated Press (writers) as well as the USA Today’s (coaches) polls. Miami remains in the Top Ten in both as well coming in at #6 in the USA Today poll and #7 in the AP poll.
UCF makes all three polls they are #23 in the BCS poll, #21 in AP and #25 in the latest USA Today rankings. However, Knights fans are I am sure a bit upset over a couple of glaring inconsistencies, given that they have just upset #7 and previously unbeaten Louisville.
For example, UCF, whose only loss came to South Carolina, just handed Louisville its first loss at Louisville. At the moment, based on what happened on the field so far, there’s no rational explanation for not ranking UCF ahead of Louisville. However, UCF is ranked 25th in both the Harris and USA Today polls while Louisville is an inexplicable 16th and the Cardinals are #18 in AP with the Knights at #21.
The polls make very little sense in many ways but for now the key is for FSU, UCF and Miami to all increase their poll numbers.
