FSU Looks Forward To Showdown With Clemson

Seminoles_Greg_Dent_2013FSU-Clemson may not have the same allure as FSU-Miami or FSU-Florida, but the annual matchup between the ACC foes has developed into a quality rivalry that often has strong implications on national standings.

The next chapter of the rivalry is one of the most highly anticipated games so far this college football season. No. 3 Clemson (6-0, 4-0 ACC) hosts No. 5 FSU (5-0, 3-0 ACC) Saturday at 8 p.m., and the game will air ABC. ESPN’s College GameDay will host its show on the Clemson campus.

“The biggest thing is that the rivalry has grown because Clemson has been playing very well over the last couple of years,” said McPherson, who plays for the Tampa Bay Storm of the Arena Football League. “I don’t think it’s been bigger than this year, 3 and 5 going at it.

“When you look at it now, Florida State-Miami is a rivalry, but not like it was. . . . Florida is always going to be that tough, tough rivalry, but these last couple of years, they’ve been lower in those top 25 standings. It’s arguable that Clemson has taken on that Miami-Florida State [rivalry], because they’ve been so good lately.”
