Former Gators RB Released After Being Arrested
As if the media scrutiny wasn’t enough after the loss to Louisville in the 2013 Sugar Bowl, the University of Florida is again getting some bad publicity. This time it’s because of a former star football player.
Chris Rainey, drafted by the Steelers in this years draft, was arrested early this morning, He is being charged with one count of simple battery (dating violence). Rainey got into an altercation with his girlfriend while trying to retrieve his cell phone from her purse. The report states that there were no visible injuries to either party.
The Steelers did not waste any time as they officially released the former Gator, this afternoon. This was not the first domestic dispute brought against Rainey. Steelers General Manager Kevin Colberthad had this to say; “Chris Rainey’s actions this morning were extremely disappointing,…Under the circumstances and due to this conduct, Chris will no longer be a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
