Former Bucs DT Chartric Darby Arrested for Domestic Battery
While Warren Sapp was celebrating his enshrinement in Canton Saturday, his former Buccaneer teammate, defensive tackle Chartric Darby, had a rough afternoon.
Darby, 37, was arrested in Land O’ Lakes on charges of domestic battery, after he and his wife got into an argument.
According to the arrest report from the Pasco County Sheriff’s Department, a deputy was called to their home on Oakville Drive after he allegedly pushed his wife in the chest. She said she had been trying to leave to “take care of some things.”
Darby told the deputy that he and his wife had been arguing, but nothing physical occurred between the two. The officer reported that there were no visible signs of a physical altercation.
He was arrested at 4:53 p.m. and booked just after 7:00 that evening. He was released Sunday afternoon after posting $500 bail.
A backup during his first three years in Tampa, Darby started opposite Sapp in the postseason and in Super Bowl XXXVII after Booger McFarland suffered a broken foot.
Darby played for the team from 2001-2004. His nine-year career also included stints with the Seattle Seahawks and the Detroit Lions.
