Florida Panthers Announce 2013-14 Schedule

Florida Panthers Begin 20th Anniversary

Season in Dallas on Oct. 3

Cats host Penguins in special “throwback” home opener on Oct. 11 at 7:30 p.m.

SUNRISE, FL – Sunrise Sports & Entertainment announced today the Florida Panthers (@FlaPanthers) will begin their 20th season in the National Hockey League on Thursday, Oct. 3 in Dallas and open their home schedule with a special “throwback” BB&T Center opener on Oct. 11 against the first regular season home opponent in franchise history – the Pittsburgh Penguins.

After a four-game road trip to start season, the Panthers host the Pens, and unveil a new Panasonic high definition scoreboard, on Friday, Oct. 11 at 7:30 p.m. at the BB&T Center (@theBBTCenter).

The Cats took on the Penguins in their first regular season game in South Florida on Oct. 12, 1993, nearly 20-years to the date. The night will be a “throwback” night with details on all of the Opening Night festivities to be announced in the coming weeks.

Panthers season ticket packages are on sale now starting at $7 a game including a host of exciting benefits. The only way for fans to guarantee the best games at the best prices and the best locations is to call 954-835-PUCK now or log on to FloridaPanthers.com.

The 2013-2014 season is highlighted by 27 games at home either on Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Florida completes the 2013-2014 campaign with a five-game homestand that ends with the regular season finale on Saturday, April 12 against the Columbus Blue Jackets. All Panthers home games (Monday-Friday) will begin at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday home contests will start at 7 p.m. Sunday home game start times will vary between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.

As part of NHL realignment Florida will now compete in the Atlantic Division featuring in-state rival Tampa Bay, original six opponents Detroit, Montreal, Boston, and Toronto, as well as Buffalo and Ottawa.

“In honor of our 20th Anniversary celebration we have put together a terrific schedule that starts with an extra special opening night against the Pittsburgh Penguins – the same opponent the Cats hosted in their first ever regular season home game at the Miami Arena in 1993,” said Panthers President Michael R. Yormark (@PanthersYormark). “Our fans should be extremely excited about the schedule as it includes a thrilling Thanksgiving week of home games against Philadelphia, New York Rangers and Pittsburgh, as well as three fantastic holiday match-ups against Detroit, Montreal and the Rangers on New Year’s Eve (5 p.m. start).

“Fans will also get the chance to see the Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks when they visit South Florida on Oct. 22, as well as a pair of visits from the Eastern Conference Champion Boston Bruins. We look forward to welcoming Panthers fans back to the BB&T Center this fall and sharing this special anniversary season with them.”
