Florida Lands Top Quarterback Sheriron Jones For 2015
The Florida football team has officially landed their quarterback for the class of 2015 – four-star prospect Sheriron Jones from Moreno Valley California. The Rancho Verde High School product committed to the University of Florida on Sunday over Georgia, Arizona, Tennessee, USC, UCLA and others while on a three-day visit to Gainesville for Will Muschamp’s annual high school football camp. Jones also visited Tennessee earlier this week, but chose Florida because it felt like home to him.
The 6-foot-2, 189 pound Jones is ranked No. 5 in the country by 247Sports, and the No. 131 player overall and is expected to be a great contribution to new offensive coordinator Kurt Roper’s uptempo, shotgun spread offense that will be unleashed this fall. Jones is also from the same high school that produced former Gator Ronald Powell, who was selected in the fifth round of this year’s NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints.
With Jones’ commitment, the University of Florida now has nine players for 2015, and Jones is the first at the quarterback position. Florida’s nine commitments include ATH Derrick Dillon, DT Andrew Ivie, OC Tyler Jordan, CB Jalen Julius, CB Marcus Lewis, TE Camrin Knight, WR Tristan Payton, and S Deontai Williams.
