Five Most Underrated College Football Players
College football season is right around the corner and there are plenty of teams who are expected to do well, and obviously, there are some who won’t live up to expectations.
The players that make up these teams, often don’t get enough credit and are sometimes looked over completely. That is why we are highlighting college football’s top 5 underrated players in 2014. We understand that “underrated” is very subjective, but these are players we feel do not get enough recognition for their skills.
Starting with USC quarterback Cody Kessler, the player who worked hard to get where he is today. Kessler battled with Max Wittek for the starting job in 2013 and somehow, he fought through the stressful and confusing time during coach Lane Kiffin’s firing.
Kessler grew into his role and he’s proven to be a very accurate passer. Even through the coaching nightmare, Kessler remained a strong foundation for his teammates and he helped the team rank 16th nationally.
Northwestern running back Venric Mark had a stellar junior season and then basically disappeared as a senior because of persistent injuries.
Luckily, he was granted another season of eligibility and he’s fully recovered from his broken ankle. Fans can surely expect him to make a dynamic comeback this year.
Arizona State quarterback Taylor Kelly may be on everyone’s radar now, but he wasn’t always a big name. He’s been buried by big names like Marcus Mariota, but get ready for him to make himself known this year.
According to Sports on Earth, Kelly complete 64% of his passes for almost 4,000 yards with 28 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Pretty impressive.
UCLA linebacker Eric Kendricks has developed into one of the best in the Pac-12. He leads the conference with more than 100 tackles and even though he didn’t get all-conference honors last year, he still deserves to get some love for what he’s done.
Kendricks dealt with several injuries in 2013 but he still played and showed that he is a force to be reckoned with. He will most definitely have an impact on the Bruins this season.Five Most Underrated College Football Players by Sports Talk Florida
