First Leg Premier League Strength Of Schedule Analysis

Posted By Vincent Maduri On August 17, 2012 @ 11:41 PM In soccer | No Comments

Over the course of the season, we will split each team’s schedule into 8 different legs and analyze the difficulty by table standing, recent form, home games vs. away games, and whether or not the team is operating on short rest.

Each opponent will be assigned a squad strength number based upon table standing and recent performances.  A point is added to that number if you play the opponent on the road, and a half a point is added if you are playing on short rest from a match in the mid-week.  The leg’s opponents will then be added up to give you a leg difficulty number.

This leg’s squad strength numbers have been assigned as follows: Manchester City and Manchester United receive 5’s; Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham, and Newcastle United receive 4’s; Liverpool, Everton, Fulham, and Swansea City receive 3’s; Norwich City, Stoke City, Sunderland, and West Bromwich Albion receive 2’s; Aston Villa, Queens Park Rangers, Reading, Southampton, West Ham United, and Wigan Athletic receive 1’s.

Note: Italics indicate games on short rest
