Fantasy Football – Three Sleepers that Can Save Your Season

Heading into Week 14 of this NFL season, the fantasy football playoffs are right around the corner. In the last official matchup of the regular fantasy season, Week 14 can be the crucial deciding factor of whether a team makes the postseason or has their championship dreams crushed.
Whether the case may be injury problems, inconsistencies in performance or simply a lack of production there are many owners in need of some serious assistance.
With a widespread selection of talent on the waiver-wire, don’t be afraid to make a move. There are quite a few solid choices at each position, but most are a hit or miss. The following three sleepers have been on fire of late and will continue to dominate for the remainder of the season.
RB Joique Bell, Detroit Lions – Seen as a risk because of Reggie Bush and the extent of Detroit RBs. But when given the chance Bell has proven how dominant of a back he truly is. The only two opportunities Bell received of 19 carries or more he put up 19.20 fantasy points against the Redskins and 18.80 against Green Bay. He also racked up a 15.70 point performance in Week 11 off of only nine carries. The potential is there for the youngster but his playing time is never guaranteed. Although Bell would be categorized as a fantasy risk, the payoff is outstanding especially if you have a crucial matchup in the upcoming weeks. Due to his productive contributions, and the Lions recent success on the ground, Bell may see increased carries. Joique Bell is the best running back available and has the potential to breakout 20+ point performances
QB Alex Smith, Kansas City Chiefs- Say what you want about Alex Smith but recently he has been one of the best fantasy quarterbacks in the NFL. In four of his last five outings Smith has recorded at least 21 fantasy points. The Chiefs have been struggling the past few games, however Smith has continued to play effectively and consistently. Smith and Head Coach Andy Reid have great chemistry and it has been translating on the football field. Expect consistently similar numbers from Smith for the rest of the year, anywhere from 18-25 fantasy points per game. Alex Smith has proven that if in the right system he can really thrive and with his recent success he is currently the best waiver-wire quarterback available. If in need of a starting QB, whether its injuries or lack of confidence, look no further. Alex Smith is your guy.
TE Ladarius Green, San Diego Chargers- This rising young star has flown completely under the radar, although he did gain my attention after Week 11 with the breakout performance of his career. Green hasn’t put up incredible numbers that will jump off of the stat sheet, however, he has become a dominant and reliable fantasy tight end.
Ladarius has clearly gained the confidence of Phillip Rivers and the Chargers offense. During the past three games he has been given a lot more trust. In weeks 11, 12, and 13 Green was thrown to a total of 16 times, which is the most targets he has received over a three game period his entire career. In fact, the second-year tight end played on 91 percent of the Chargers snaps in Week 13, which is great news for fantasy owners interested in a tight end. Green has averaged 10.87 fantasy points per game over the past three weeks and is actually the third most productive fantasy tight end in the last four weeks(Only behind Rob Gronkowski and Jimmy Graham).
At a massive 6 feet 6 inches and 240 pounds, not only is Ladarius hard to bring down, but he is also extremely athletic for a man of his stature. Only owned by nine percent of fantasy teams he is widely available. Green is without a doubt the biggest steal at this point in the season. If without a productive or consistent tight end on your team, adding Ladarius Green will help save your season.
