Fantasy Football Playoffs- Four Waiver-Wire Must Haves That Will Help You Win A Championship

Seahawks WR Doug Baldwin TD vs the BucsHeading into the championship weeks of the 2013 fantasy football season, many teams have tried but only few remain.  In most fantasy leagues this is the final week of the season, with two teams battling it out for the championship title.  However this week doesn’t only affect two teams.  There is a first, second, and third place, so four teams have meaningful games in Week 16.  In cash leagues fighting for third place is important because you can win your money back.  So if you haven’t made the title game but still have a shot at third, do not give up yet.  Adjust your roster with some waiver-wire tweaks, if necessary, and gear up for battle.

As we now enter into Week 16 it may be difficult to field a respectable fantasy roster due to injuries and major performance inconsistencies.  However, do not hesitate to search the waiver-wire because you may just find a few gems that will shock and amaze against their upcoming opponents.  From QB Ryan Tannehill to WR Doug Baldwin, there are still a bevy of talented players available for the picking in many fantasy leagues.  If you have a certain position that has been constantly failing you of late, take a chance and make a change.

Take a look at four fantasy football waiver-wire must-haves that have the potential to earn you a win in Week 16.

RB Jordan Todman, Jacksonville Jaguars – 19% Yahoo! Fantasy Owned

Jordan Todman received a serious workload for the first time in his career in Week 15, and it paid off incredibly for the Jacksonville Jaguars.  Todman earned 109 rushing yards off of 25 rushing attempts and made four receptions that gained a total of 44 yards, recording 15.30 fantasy points.

Todman got the nod at running back because Maurice Jones-Drew has an injured hamstring.  If MJD cant go once again in Week 16, you can expect Todman to obtain the majority of the carries for Jacksonville.  Even if MJD does come back, Todman should still receive some action because it is doubtful Jones-Drew will be 100%.  The Tennessee Titans give up an average of 119.1 rushing yards per game which ranks them 23rd overall in the NFL for rushing defense.  Todman should have some fun against the Titans this week due to their weak defense that allows an average of 345.0 total yards per game.

If in need of a RB this week Jordan Todman is your guy.  The reward is definitely worth the risk, and against Tennessee Todman should produce some impressive numbers if given the opportunity.  Only owned by 2.3% of ESPN fantasy teams, Todman is widely available and makes a great starting RB2 for Week 16.

QB Ryan Tannehill, Miami Dolphins – 31% Yahoo! Fantasy Owned

Ryan Tannehill has played exceptionally well of late and he is a major reason the Miami Dolphins have won four of their last five games.  In terms of fantasy football, Tannehill has earned at least 19 fantasy points in each of his last four performances.  Throughout his last six games Tannehill has thrown a total of 12 touchdowns, only five interceptions, an average of 279 passing yards per game, and an average of 20.43 fantasy points per game.

Miami’s Week 16 opponent is the Buffalo Bills, who have a pretty decent passing defense, but they have given up an average of 27 points in the past three games.  The Dolphins have scored an average of 24.25 against their last four opponents.  That number is pretty good considering Miami’s recent competition has been the New England Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Jets, and Carolina Panthers.  The way Tannehill has been playing he will perform outstanding in Week 16 against the Buffalo Bills, in an extremely important game with playoff implications.

Ryan Tannehill is the best QB available on the waiver-wire, and quite honestly has been one of the best quarterbacks overall in the past three weeks.  Whether injuries have continuously plagued you at the quarterback position or player inconsistencies worry you during championship week, be sure to not only add but also start Ryan Tannehill in Week 16.

TE Delanie Walker, Tennessee Titans – 44% Yahoo! Fantasy Owned

Delanie Walker is the player you want for Week 16 if tight end is a positional necessity.  There are quite a few reasons why you might want to add Walker for your championship run. Walker has recorded the 11th most fantasy points among tight ends this season, with 86.70, and has put up over 11 fantasy points in four separate games.

Walker and the Tennessee Titans go up against one of the worst defenses in the National Football League, in the Jacksonville Jaguars, in Week 16.  Jacksonville allows an average of 381.8 total yards per game and has given up the second most fantasy points to tight ends this season.

With three touchdowns in his last five performances, Walker is a solid starter for this upcoming week.  Whether you going for fifth place or the league championship, it is important have a tight end that can contribute significantly.  Delanie Walker can be that tight end for you in Week 16.  Expect an outstanding showing from Walker in Jacksonville.

WR Doug Baldwin, Seattle Seahawks – 24% Yahoo! Fantasy Owned

Although Doug Baldwin and the Seattle Seahawks are going up against a tough Arizona defense, you can expect Baldwin to make some noise.  Baldwin didn’t do much in Seattle’s first meeting with the Cardinals, but as a team the Seahawks played very well winning 34-22 in Week 7.  Since then Baldwin has improved his game dramatically and has been able to find the endzone much more often.

In three of his last four performances Baldwin has managed to score at least 12.30 fantasy points.  His recent fantasy success has stemmed from his ability to reach the endzone.  Baldwin has scored at least one touchdown in four of his last six games.  Seahawks Quarterback Russell Wilson has shown more trust with Doug Baldwin during the second half of this season, which makes him more of a fantasy threat.

Dont be afraid to add and start Baldwin in Week 16 if in need of a wide receiver.  If there is a receiver you do not trust on your roster, believe in Doug Baldwin.  He may just win you a championship.
