Fantasy Camp Gives Wade Time To Reflect

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (AP) — Around this time a decade ago, Dwyane Wade was about to become a millionaire.

He signed his first contract with the Miami Heat on Aug. 19, 2003, 10 years ago Monday. It was a three-year deal, worth just over $7 million. His first paycheck was somewhere around $70,000. He spent a day looking at it, mesmerized at how much money was in his hands at one time.

And now he’s a three-time NBA champion, with about $100 million in on-court earnings alone.

That all being said, Wade is entering one of his more looked-forward-to weekends of the summer. It’s his third annual fantasy camp, where regular guys get to be like him for a few days. Wade says he can’t believe how much has changed over the last 10 years.
