ESPN 1080 Insiders Poll October 17

The ESPN1080 Insiders crew have once again submitted their votes following a weekend of college football. The way the voting works is simple – you get 25 points for being #1, 24 for #2, 23 for #3, etc… The voters this week are Andrew Melnick, Carson Ingle, Charlie Bernstein, and Eric Lopez.

1. Alabama (2) – 98
2. Oklahoma (1) – 94
3. LSU (1) – 93
4. Wisconsin – 88
5. Oklahoma State – 83
6. Boise State – 82
7. Stanford – 77
8. Clemson – 73
9. Oregon – 69
10. Arkansas – 61
11. South Carolina – 51
12. Virginia Tech – 50
13. Kansas State – 49
13. West Virginia – 49
15. Nebraska – 48
16. Michigan State – 44
17. Houston – 27
18. Texas A&M – 26
18. Auburn – 26
20. Michigan – 21
21. Illinois – 18
22. Georgia Tech – 17
22. Arizona State – 17
24. Washington – 10
25. Notre Dame – 7

Also Receiving Votes: Texas (6), SMU (6), Penn State (5), Georgia (5), Baylor (1)

In: Washington (24), Notre Dame (25)
Out: Baylor (21), Texas (23)

Once again, there are no Florida schools in the Top 25. In fact, not one state school even received one vote. South Florida is the only BCS school in the state with less than three losses, but after being blown out by Pittsburgh and losing to Connecticut, they proved there isn’t a spot for them right now. Florida picked up their third loss of the season, while the team who defeated them, Auburn, moved up two spots to #18. Miami and Florida State both fared better – the ‘Canes held on to defeat North Carolina and the ‘Noles blew out Duke to put an end to their three-game losing streak.

There wasn’t much change at the top. The only strange part of this voting process is that one voter continues to leave LSU out of their top 4. Washington and Notre Dame check in at the end of the poll, replacing two Big 12 schools – Baylor was defeated by Texas A&M while Texas lost to Oklahoma State. Georgia Tech, Illinois and Michigan all tumbled in the poll after losing for the first time this season.
