A team from the state of Florida was finally back on a ballot. One voter had Florida State, who won their fourth straight game Thursday night when they defeated Boston College 38-7, ranked 20th. Florida put an end to their four-game losing streak with a 26-21 win over Vanderbilt while Miami improved to 5-4 after blowing out Duke 49-14. UCF fell to Tulsa 24-17 Thursday night and Rutgers defeated South Florida in overtime 20-17 after the Bulls blew a 17-3 lead.

LSU became a unanimous #1 after they defeated previously top-ranked Alabama 9-6 in overtime. Despite the loss, Alabama is still the highest ranked one-loss team and is just two points behind fourth-ranked Boise State, a winner over UNLV Saturday night. Stanford was the big winner this week, moving up to #2. Oklahoma, who lost record-setting wide receiver Ryan Broyles to a torn ACL during their win over Texas A&M, is in a tie with Oregon in the sixth spot. The Ducks haven’t lost since the opening week, a 40-27 defeat at the hands of LSU. Stanford hosts Oregon this weekend. The only other team with any kind of shot at the title appears to be Arkansas. The eighth-ranked Razorbacks defeated South Carolina 44-28 Saturday night and still have a game against LSU at the end of November. Games between Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech and Clemson and Wake Forest could decide who plays for the ACC championship. In fact, a Clemson win clinches a berth in the game for the Tigers.
