The ESPN1080 Insiders crew has once again submitted their votes following a weekend of college football. The way the voting works is simple – you get 25 points for being #1, 24 for #2, 23 for #3, etc… The voters are Andrew Melnick, Carson Ingle, Charlie Bernstein, Eric Lopez and Mike Tuck.

A team from the state of Florida finally returned to the Insiders top 25. Florida State is now ranked 23rd after defeating Miami 23-19 and improving to 7-3 on the season. It wasn’t all good for the ‘Noles – Clemson’s 31-28 comeback win over Wake Forest ended Florida State’s ACC title hopes. The Canes fell to 5-5 and will battle another in-state team this weekend when they travel to Tampa to take on South Florida. The Bulls snapped their four-game losing streak with a 37-17 win over Syracuse to improve to 5-4. Central Florida dropped to 4-6 after a heartbreaking loss at Southern Miss. Florida’s woes continued with 17-12 loss to South Carolina in Columbia. The Gators are now 5-5, but should become bull eligible since they will host Furman Saturday. South Carolina finished unbeaten in the SEC East, but thanks to their two losses to west teams (Auburn, Arkansas), they must hope Georgia falls to Kentucky Saturday to make the SEC Championship game.

LSU remained the unanimous #1, while Oklahoma State, thanks to Oregon’s blowout victory over Stanford, became the unanimous #2. One voter was unkind to Alabama, ranking the Tide sixth, so Oregon slid up into the 3 spot. Oregon was ranked third on two ballots. Alabama is now fourth, while Oklahoma sits in the fifth spot and Arkansas, a 49-7 winner over Tennessee, is 6. Stanford dropped to eighth, while Boise State’s last second loss to TCU dropped them to 10. TCU is back in the top 25 at 22. The ACC could finally have a battle of top 10 teams in their championship game – Clemson is 7 while Virginia Tech is 9. Unbeaten Houston is now 11 and because TCU is likely to win the Mountain West Conference instead of Boise State, if Houston wins out, we’ll likely see them in a BCS game.
