Eric LeGrand Gives Praise To Malcolm Glazer
Eric LeGrand has a special relationship with former Tampa Bay Buccaneers owner Malcolm Glazer, but he has never met him. Glazer gave LeGrand life to his dream of “playing” in the NFL — or at least formally being in the league.
If you haven’t been living under a rock the past few years, you’ll know that on October 16, 2010 LeGrand was paralyzed from the neck down when he went in to tackle an Army ball carrier in college when he played for Rutgers University.
On May 2, 2012, the Bucs symbolically signed LeGrand and on July 26, 2012, LeGrand retired in a selfless act so he wouldn’t occupy a roster spot for a player trying to make the team in training camp.
LeGrand deems himself a “Buc for life.” So this week, he did what a supposed Buc for life would do. While watching television at his home in New Jersey Wednesday afternoon, he learned about Glazer’s death. He felt compelled to go to twitter to show his love, thanks and support for the Glazer family.
RIP to Malcolm Glazer thank you and your family for agreeing with Coach Schiano and letting me sign an NFL contract with the @TBBuccaneers

“I know when Coach [Greg] Schiano came up with the idea, he had to run it through the whole [Glazer] family,” LeGrand told FOXSportsFlorida.com on Thursday night. “I remember when he told me when they were all onboard for it, and they thought it was a great idea. So that’s what my tweet really stemmed from. You know what I mean? Because I remember him telling me that the family agreed when he came up with the idea, and they just thought it was a tremendous idea.Eric LeGrand Gives Praise To Malcolm Glazer by Sports Talk Florida
