Key Series to look for this weekend.
MEAC- Hampton vs Norfolk State, Hampton and Norfolk State both sit at 14-1 and face off this weekend in a 3 game series.MEAC Tournament will be interesting to follow as Hampton, Norfolk State, and Bethune Cookman have all dominated the conference with only one loss heading into the last weekend of regular season play.
CUSA- UAB at Houston. Houston needs to sweep UAB to win CUSA Regular season title while UAB only needs to win 1 game to clinch regular season title which would be the first for UAB since CUSA change to current conference in 2006.
Big East- Louisville at Notre Dame. Showdown for the Big East title as which ever teams wins 2/3 in this series, wins Big East regular season title. Both Louisville and Notre Dame come in at 17-2 in the conference while USF right behind at 18-3. The Bulls will host the final Big East tournament as we know it next weekend.
SEC- Florida at South Carolina- Gators come in to final weekend 1/2 game back of Tennessee for SEC Title. South Carolina is fresh off a stunning sweep win at Mississippi State to move to 10th and final spot for SEC Tournament with one weekend left. If the Gamecocks have a good showing with a win over Florida may be enough to get into the NCAA Tournament if not the SEC Tournament.
Tennessee at Missouri- The Vols are hoping to hold on to SEC lead but have a tough trip to face Chelsea Thomas and Missouri. The Vols will need to match whatever Florida does this weekend and and Georgia beats LSU it least once to win SEC.
LSU at Georgia- LSU coming off a huge sweep of Alabama. Rachelle Fico was huge in series sweep against the defending national champions with two wins but did not win SEC pitcher of week somehow. Big drop of the ball by the SEC offices, no excuses for that. Fico and the Tigers need to sweep Georgia , win by South Carolina over Florida and Missouri to win 2 of 3 over Tennesseee to claim SEC Title. More importantly Tigers look to improve chances of being a national seed and Fico’s chances of winning the elusive SEC Pitcher of Year Award with strong showing against Georgia.
