Video: Grand Slam And Triple Play At Durham
It was quite a night at the park for the Rays Triple-A Durham Bulls on Friday night as they played host to the Toledo Mud Hens in front of their largest crowd of the season of 9,644. The fans in attendance were rewarded with two of baseballs most exciting plays a grand slam and a triple play.
In the third inning with the Bulls trailing 2-0 Vince Belnome stepped to the plate and rocketed a Grand Slam to the bleacher in right field to give the Bulls a 4-2 lead.
The Toledo Mud Hens were trailing 5-2 in the top of the 6th but the first two hitters had reached base against Bulls reliever Steve Geltz. Bryan Holaday sent a hard grounder to Bulls third baseman Cole Figueroa who stepped on third and started the around the horn triple play. It was the first triple play turned by the Bulls since August 2, 2005 against Norfolk.
