A familiar name has joined the University of Florida Men’s basketball team. It was announced Tuesday morning that transfer Jon Horford will be eligible to play for Billy Donovan next season.
Jon’s older brother Al played for the Gators, winning back-to-back titles in 2006 and 2007. Al was the third overall selection in the 2007 NBA draft and is currently playing for the Atlanta Hawks.
Jon graduated from the University of Michigan and has already begun graduate school this summer at UF.
The 6-foot-9, 250 pound forward played 107 games for the Wolverines. In limited minutes, he managed to only average around four points and four rebounds his senior season.
The addition of Horford to Florida’s roster gives Donovan some much needed depth to a depleted frontcourt that lost three seniors.
