Dolphins Give LB Wake Extension Through 2016

MIAMI (AP) The Miami Dolphins have extended linebacker Cameron Wake's contract through the 2016 season.

The 6-foot-3, 260-pound Wake has played three seasons with the Dolphins, and led the team in sacks last year with 8. He has started 31 of 46 games.

Wake has 28 sacks and four forced fumbles with Miami after coming to the Dolphins from the Canadian Football League, where he was a two-time defensive player of the year.

Terms of the deal were not announced Sunday. Wake had one year and $650,000 left on his previous deal. ESPN is reporting the extension is worth $49 million, with $20 million guaranteed.
