The operation was performed Tuesday by noted surgeon Dr. James Andrews in Florida. Corbin revealed the operation via Twitter , and Diamondbacks bench coach Alan Trammell confirmed it later in the day when the team gathered for its first workout since returning from its season-opening series against the Los Angeles Dodgers in Australia.
Corbin has a partial tear of the ulnar collateral ligament and will be out all of this season and possibly part of the next. The 16-game winner felt discomfort and had to leave his start last week.
Trammell was in charge of the Diamondbacks’ workout because manager Kirk Gibson underwent a procedure to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee. Gibson is expected to be out a few days.Diamondbacks' Corbin Has Season Ending Surgery by Associated Press
