Saint Petersburg, Fla. (AP) — Detroit’s Max Scherzer is out to become baseball’s first 12-game winner of the season tonight when the Tigers play the Rays in St. Petersburg, Fla. The right-hander is off to a tremendous start to the season with wins in all 11 of his decisions. He has an earned run average of 3.05 and has 122 strikeouts. Scherzer is looking to become the first pitcher since Roger Clemens in 1986 to win his first 12 decisions to begin a season.

There are two good American League East matchups tonight with the Yankees playing the Orioles in Baltimore and Toronto facing the Red Sox in Boston.

A pair of National League division leaders is squaring off in Atlanta as the Braves, who top the NL East, play host to the West leading Arizona Diamondbacks.

In a good interleague contest the Rangers are hosting the Reds. Texas is tops in the AL West while the Reds are 45-34 in the NL Central, 3 ½ games back of St. Louis.

There is one doubleheader today as the White Sox are entertaining the Indians in a twin-bill brought about by a rainout earlier in the season.
