Derek Fisher: It’s My Calling To Be Coach
During an emotional 20 minute press conference, New York Knicks coaching candidate Derek Fisher said it is his “calling” to be the head coach, according to the New York Post. This comes after his Oklahoma City Thunder were eliminated by the San Antonio Spurs from the Western Conference Finals.
In what seemed like a farewell chat with the media at the Thunder’s practice facility, the 39-year-old acknowledged that the timing isn’t perfect but said “That’s how the world works nowadays.” He said the involvement of new President Phil Jackson adds “layers” to the decision.
Jackson and the Knicks as well as the Lakers are expected to pursue Fisher for their vacancies.
