David Price’s Trade Stock On The Rise
Rays pitcher David Price has been on a roll the last couple weeks, clearly raising his trade stock. But there are other factors that play to Price’s favor.
Over the weekend, the Athletics took some top starters off the market: Jeff Samardzija and Jason Hammel. This leaves Price on somewhat of a stranded island in terms of available starting talent.
According to CBS Sports’ Jon Heyman, Cliff Lee and maybe even Cole Hamels could enter the market, but that is not definite for now. So it looks like Price and a bunch of ‘second-tier’ players.
The question looming over the Rays and MLB though is will Price get traded? He said that he likes his chances of staying if he keeps winning. A 7-3 win over the Detroit Tigers is a nice way to wrap up a convincing road trip. And the Rays aren’t out of the AL East yet.
For those saying the Rays are done: Remember, on July 27, 2011, they were 11 1/2 games out of first … and made the playoffs.

The Rays will wait till the deadline, or at least close to, till they decide for sure if he gets traded. But for now, that was a convincing outing by the veteran lefty.David Price's Trade Stock On The Rise by Blake Bass
