Darrelle Revis Still on Schedule for Week 1
Barring any setbacks, Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Darrelle Revis is still expected to start next weekend’s season opener against the New York Jets.
In head coach Greg Schiano’s day-after-the-game press conference Friday, he told reporters that his starting cornerback fully practiced for the second-consecutive week and is still on-schedule to make the start against his former team.
“I’ve prefaced it all along. As long as there are no setbacks, that’s the plan,” said head coach Greg Schiano on starting Revis, who suffered a torn ACL in Week 3 of the regular season last year.
A return Aug. 9 would mark almost a full year for his recovery, which included undergoing surgery to repair the torn ligament on Oct. 16.
Revis did not play at all this preseason. He participated in a full week of practice for the first time heading into the Dolphins’ game last week, a game in which the starters played up to three full quarters. The decision was made to sit him, however.
Revis was again full-participation in practice this week, but did not play in last night’s preseason finale against the Redskins. Schiano called the decision to sit a “mutual pass.”
