Darrelle Revis Practices for the Fourth-Straight Day
Whether or not Bucs Pro Bowl cornerback Darrelle Revis takes the field against the Dolphins in Saturday’s third preseason game, he can say that this was a pivotal week in his knee rehabilitation.
On Monday, Revis participated in team periods during practice. It was the first time since his season-ending knee injury on September 24 of last year that he was able to line up and go full-speed against a receiver. On Thursday he continued to show progress.
“That’s four days in a row now. That’s the longest stretch we’ve went,” said Buccaneers head coach Greg Schiano in his Thursday press conference. “So tomorrow, we’re not doing much anyway, but it’s gonna be a strengthening day.”
Schiano said he would talk to Revis to discuss the possibility of playing Saturday, although it doesn’t seem likely. When Schiano was asked if he thought Revis would play at all in the preseason and his response was, “I wouldn’t say it’s been eliminated, but again, I’ll just say I don’t need to see it.”
The priority has been and continues to be getting his knee ready for Week 1 against Revis’ former team, the Jets.
“The plan so far, he’s been able to stick to the plan — the increase in workload, and certainly you’re sore in general, every player is sore, but the part that we’re worried about, he’s doing well.”Darrelle Revis Practices for the Fourth-Straight Day by Jenna Laine
