Curtis Granderson Talks Free Agency

Posted By Steve Kinsella On November 6, 2013 @ 9:01 AM In MLB | No Comments

Curtis Granderson [1] was on MLB Network Radio’s First Pitch and discussed how he views the qualifying offer and pending free agency, his feelings of playing in his home town with either the Cubs or White Sox, and how the signing of Joe Girardi [2] was important to him in regards to staying with the New York Yankees.

Sox_Granderson_2013 [3]Granderson’s season was cut short by two separate wrist injuries which limited him to just 61 games where he posted a sub-par slash line of .229/.317/.407 with just 7 home runs in 245 plate appearances.

He will turn 33 years in March and despite a disappointing and injury filled 2013 season teams should be lining up with mulit-year offers for one of the few players on the open market who supply power.

Although he could take the qualifying offer and have a tremendous season with New York and try his luck on the open market next year I don’t see him taking that route.  I believe he’ll decline the qualifying offer and shop his services to 29 other teams but ultimately he’ll return to the Bronx with the Yankees.
