According to Pro Football Talk, Orton told the team that he wants to leave the NFL. But, there’s a bit of a twist.
If Orton retires, the Cowboys can’t prevent that. However, they can force him to pay back the $3 million signing bonus they gave him when he signed a five-year contract two years ago.
Who knows? Maybe Orton can afford to sign off on a check that substantial. If not, he’s here to stay.
If he leaves (that’s a big if) then Brandon Weeden would most likely back up Tony Romo.
