Cowboys DE Anthony Spencer Out for the Year
Spencer will require microfracture surgery to repair his troublesome left knee and won't be back until January or February, Woy said.
Spencer has been sidelined with a knee injury and underwent surgery July 25. He was able to play in Week 2 against the Kansas City Chiefs but the knee has continued to limit him in practice.
Spencer has long been considered one of the most reliable players in Dallas' defense. In the last four seasons, he's only missed two games.
Last year, Spencer registered 11 sacks, the first double-digit sack total of his career, and ninth among defensive ends.
Despite his absence this season, the Cowboys, who currently sit atop the NFC East, have gotten plenty of production from their front seven under new defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin, recording a league second-best 13 sacks through three games.
