Freshman forward Chris Perry was named the American Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week on Monday after averaging 15.5 points and 7.5 rebounds for USF.
The Bartow native was efficient over the Bulls’ two games going 12-of-17 from the field for 70.6 percent. Perry tied a career best with 18 points and added eight rebounds in a 78-71 win against SMU on Tuesday. He had 13 points and seven rebounds in a 50-45 loss at No. 13 Cincinnati.
Perry, a five-time winner of the award, leads all American Athletic Conference freshmen in scoring this season with 9.6 points per game. Cincinnati’s Sean Kilpatrick was the American’s Player of the Week after leading the Bearcats to their 14th consecutive win on Sunday.
The Bulls (11-11, 2-7) play at UCF on Wednesday at 7 p.m. on ESPNNews.
