Casey Mulholland was named the Pitcher of the Week by the American Athletic Conference it was announced Monday morning by the league office.
Mulholland was dominant last week in his start against Northwestern. He fired eight innings of scoreless ball to help USF end a two-game skid. The right-hander allowed just three hits and a walk while striking out eight in the process. He helped combine for the first USF shutout of the season as he earned his first win of the year.
The Bradenton native has struck out 19 batters this season, the third most in The American while holding opponents to a .197 batting average against, the eighth best mark in the conference.
Houston shortstop Frankie Ratcliff was named the conference’s Player of the Week. Andrew Zellner of Cincinnati, Aaron Garza of Houston, Jared Ruxer of Louisville, Jon Reed of Memphis and Derek Peterson of Temple were all named to the Weekly Honor Roll.
USF returns to the diamond on Wednesday, March 12 when it welcomes No. 21 FIU to USF Baseball Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
