At the first ever American Athletic Conference football media day there were not too many surprises. On a perfect beautiful afternoon at the conference headquarters in Newport, R.I. The media voted on who would finish at the atop the 2013 AAC football standings.
Guess who is at the top of the poll?
Well how about the soon to be gone Louisville Cardinals.
Last season, Louisville won 11 games and upset the University of Florida in the Sugar Bowl. The Cardinals return 19 players who made at least one start during 2012, including quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, the 2012 Big East Offensive Player of the Year and preseason Heisman Trophy candidate.
You can bet that Louisville will have a target on their back as they try to claim a second-straight conference title before bolting to the ACC in 2014.
Cincinnati was picked second in the balloting, earning the other two first-place votes. Former Auburn head coach, Tommy Tuberville, takes over a Bearcats program that has earned at least a share of four conference title in the past five seasons. Rutgers, another team set to leave the conference next season was picked and new commer UCF was picked to finish fourth and their I-4 rival the USF Bulls round out the top five.
