Bulls point guard Anthony Collins scored 16 points and 10 assists to lift South Florida (9-3) to a 65-56 win over UCF (9-4) on Wednesday night. Collins and Victor Rudd were uncertain to play against the Knights with inuries suffered against George Mason. Rudd played as well scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds. The key play was with 108 left in the game and the Bulls holding on with a 54-53 lead . Toarlyn Fitzpatrick hit a back breaking 3-pointer to give the Bills a 57-53 lead. That was the Bulls’ first field goal in more than 10 minutes and propelled South Florida to a 12-3 run to finish the game.
Keith Clanton led UCF (9-4) with 18 points and 14 rebounds. Isaiah Sykes scored 17 points and had five assists for the Knights, who lost for the first time in four games went ice cold down the stretch after making a run going from being down 13 in the second half to tie the game at 53 not converting on its next four possessions and was forced to foul. South Florida went 8 for 8 from the line in the final minute to wrap up the game.
UCF will host Florida AM on Saturday while USF will start Big East play on Sunday hosting No. 7 ranked Syracuse. Below is postgame coverage from both USF and UCF.
