Sykes Hits Game Winning FTs Lifts UCF Over Southern Miss

Isaiah Sykes was 0-4 from the free throw line, that is, until 14.6 seconds left to play. UCF was tied with Southern Miss 58-58 and Sykes was at the charity stripe with a chance to give the Knights the lead.

In front of one of the most energetic crowds to fill UCF Arena this season, Sykes drained them when it counted, giving UCF a 60-58 lead.

Senior Keith Clanton blocked a potential game-winning three point attempt by Jonathan Mills and the ball went out of bounds with 2.6 seconds left. Neil Watson attempted the last shot of the game for the Golden Eagles — a three pointer that rattled in and out.

UCF beat Southern Miss 60-58, handing the Golden Eagles (18-5, 7-1 C-USA) its first loss in Conference USA play.

UCF (16-6, 6-2 C-USA) was lead in scoring by Tristan Spurlock, who had 18 points and seven rebounds in the game. Sykes finished 12 points in the contest.
