Tuck and O’Neill talked to American Athletic Conference Commissioner Mike Aresco about numerous AAC topics.
Why you should listen: Tuck and O’Neill talked to AAC Commissioner Mike Aresco about a number of AAC topics. Aresco talked about UCF’s Fiesta Bowl win over Baylor and shared some stories from the field when Aresco talked to Blake Bortles and Terrance Plummer. Aresco talked about the first season of the AAC in Football and Basketball. Aresco shared what goes into being a commissioner on a daily basis.
Aresco talked about the plans for the 2015 football season in the AAC. “We think the Pac 12 model probably will work better for us playing at a home site.” Aresco told Tuck and O’Neill. In 2015 the AAC will be a 12 team conference with Navy joining the league. The conference will split into two divisions which Aresco says will be more then likely be divided into East and West divisions with maybe a tweak or two. Aresco says they will put the formal plan on the divisions to the Athletic Directors real soon with the two divisions and the championship game initially at the host site with the higher ranking which is still to be determined. Aresco talks about the AAC members having to make a big impact in respective local markets. Aresco also talked about creating rivalries in the conference and how the AAC compares to the old Big East in Football. Aresco earlier in the week appeared on the Erik Kuselias Show which airs from 6-9am eastern and you can listen to that interview right here.
