The Knights dominated the boards out-rebounded Tulane 43-32, and got 19 points from Marcus Jordan as UCF (11-3) defeated Tulane (12-3) 60-53 in Conference USA Opener Wednesday night. A.J. Rompza scored 11 points and 5 steals while Keith Clanton chipped in with 8 points, 12 rebounds, and 5 blocks.
Wednesday night was the first of three conference games that UCF Head Coach Donnie Jones has to sit out due to without pay due to his ties to the ongoing NCAA investigation into the program’s recruiting practices. – Keith Clanton became the seventh player in school history to earn at least 600 career rebounds as he was six shy of the milestone heading into the Tulane Game. Clanton is eight points shy of recording 1,000 career points.
– Marcus Jordan is 32 points shy of 1,000 career points.

– East Carolina lost at Southern Miss 78-76 and will come in to saturday match up against the Knights with a 9-5 overall record. ECU defeated UCF three times last season including the first round of C-USA Tournament.
