Football is a team game, but having your best player do well never hurts. These are the two guys that will have to shoulder a good part of the load if their team is to win tonight in Bright House Stadium.
Jawon Chisholm is Akron’s most productive returning player on offense. The 6′-1”, 206 pound Junior running back out of Harrisburg, PA. is a physical runner. Chisholm averaged 5.3 yards per carry and rushed for 953 yards and five touchdowns in 2012. He is a complete back who can also make plays in the passing game. He had 38 catches in 2012 for two touchdowns. He should be used pretty often against UCF to take pressure off of QB Kyle Pohl in his first career start.
Blake Bortles is coming into 2013 with a load of expectations. He had a great first year as the full-time starter for the Knights and is currently on a streak of 174 pass attempts without an interception. Bortles has the talent around him to make some noise this year and build upon his impressive numbers last season. UCF return their top four receivers from 2012. Now, Bortles will be asked to not just play well but to take the next step and become great. The season opener against Akron will be his first chance to move in the right direction towards that goal.
