BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Authorities in Georgia tell The Advocate (http://bit.ly/1bRfPRa ) that a signee with the LSU baseball team is one of seven men arrested on drug charges.
Bartow County deputies say Dylan Cade Williams, of Rydal, Ga., was booked Tuesday on counts of possession with intent to distribute Schedule 1 drugs, trafficking Ecstasy, and possession of a firearm during Georgia controlled substance felony.
LSU baseball coach Paul Mainieri tells the newspaper he was informed about the arrest late Wednesday night. He said he talked with Williams’ father Thursday morning.
From the conversation, Mainieri said, it was his understanding Williams happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Williams signed a letter of intent to play baseball at LSU earlier this year after having previously verbally committed to Georgia Tech.
