Yesterday, Florida doubled up Baylor by a score of 6-3 while Alabama took care of Oregon 2 -0 to advance to the 2014 NCAA Women’s College World Series national championship best-of-three series.
The two will face off starting tonight in Oklahoma City.
Game 1 of the best-of-three series is at 8 p.m. ET and airs on ESPN2. Alabama was 2-1 against the Gators during the regular season. It marks the first time that two SEC teams have met in the championship series.
The Crimson Tide comes into the finals with a record of 53-11 while the Gators are 53-12. Both teams have the distinction of having wins over the top seeded team in the country the University of Oregon Ducks.
Florida continues to look strong at the 2014 Women’s College World Series.
Freshman Hannah Rogers has allowed three runs in 19 innings. Before Baylor crossed the plate in the fifth inning of the Gators’ 6-3 win on Sunday, Rogers had tossed 33.2 scoreless innings in the postseason. The three-time All-American from Lake Wales, Florida, has walked just two while striking out nine.
Every team in the field has committed at least one error — except Florida. Sunday saw the Gators’ third double play of the week and steady play behind Rogers.
