Florida’s Hargreaves III, Driskel, and Fowler To Attend SEC Media Days

Florida announced that Quarterback Jeff Driskel, defensive lineman Dante Fowler Jr. and defensive back Vernon Hargreaves III will represent the Gators along with head coach Will Muschamp during the 2014 SEC Media Days which begin Monday, July 14th in Birmingham. This is the very first time under Muschamp that Florida will not take a senior to SEC Media Days.

According to GatorZone.com, this marks Driskel’s second straight trip to Media Days. He’s also the sixth Gator to participate twice. The 6-foot-4, 237 pounder from Oviedo, Florida; enters his junior season as the starting quarterback. Diskel’s 2013 season ended prematurely after suffering a broken leg in a victory over Tennessee which forced him to miss the final nine games. However, with new offensive coordinator Kurt Roper and the development of the new up-tempo, shot gun spread offense that showcases his strengths – Driskel’s much more confident and comfortable on the field with Roper’s scheme and it will be exciting to see how he handles the transition and new changes this season.

Vernon Hargreaves III, a Tampa, Florida native, and one of the best players on Florida’s 2014  roster is the second Gators sophomore to attend SEC Media Days – OT Mike Pearson was the first in 2000. VH3 headlined UF’s impressive class of 2013 and immediately made a big debut and impact on the Gators squad, proving how talented he is at the cornerback position. Despite his young age, the sophomore All-American embraced the opportunity to play for the country’s toughest conference, and you can expect him to have an explosive 2014 season.

Dante Fowler Jr. is another key player on Florida’s 2014 roster. The 6-foot-3, 277 pound junior from St. Petersburg, Florida was one of just five Gators to start every game during the 2014 season. In his two seasons at Florida, he played in 25 games with 13 starts. Fowler’s great attitude and comical personality has also made him a media/ fan favorite at Florida. Therefore, fans and media members can expect his contagious personality to shine throughout the week filled with SEC football.

Muschamp may not be bringing any experienced, veteran seniors, but he is bringing Florida’s stars – the three best player’s on the team. Hargreaves III, Driskel, and Fowler had a phenomenal offseason and will well represent The University of Florida during next week’s grandest event before the start of the college football season.
