CFB: Top Teams in The Big Five

As we look ahead to college football season, let’s take a look at top teams in each of the power conferences.

You may think it’s a little too early for this, but we are within 100 days of kickoff…why not?

FSU Football
Do I even need to spell it out? F-L-O-R-I-D-A S-T…okay, I’ll stop. The Seminoles have been reigning ACC champions for the past couple of seasons, not to mention their most recent National Championship win.

They are constantly battling with Clemson for the ACC title but this year could be different. The Tigers just lost Sammy Watkins, Tajh Boyd, Roderick McDowell and Martavis Bryant.

Big Ten

Ohio State is easily the best team in the Big ten. Their roster is packed with talent and athleticism. Michigan State is a close contender with the Buckeyes but with the maturity of the team and the success of  recruiting from Urban Meyer, keep your eyes open them.

Big 12

The Baylor Bears were ranked in the top 5 last season and they can easily be ranked number one, above Oklahoma.

The Bears return with their QB Bryce Petty who proved to be a threat for them in 2013. They still have some young players but they are not to be underestimated.

There are some question marks looming at Baylor but I still see them as repeat champs.

The UCLA Bruins are pretty tight these days. Tight as in there are no holes in their roster.

The Bruins have QB Brett Hundley who could be one of the best in the country. Aside from ranking high in the Pac-12, some analysts are ranking them at No. 7 in preseason rankings.

As much as everyone wants to see someone else reign over the SEC, Alabama wins the cake, once again. Auburn did beat the Crimson Tide in the Iron Bowl last season but this year is different. What will the Tide do without A.J. McCarron?

Alabama still has most of their returning players from last year and they add QB transfer Jacob Coker from Florida State. It’s still too early to tell whether or not he will make an impact right away.

It will be an exciting season, that’s for sure. Less than 100 days to go!
