NFL teams that have a first round draft selection are working hard to decide who they will choose. Well, we have a mock draft of our own. Here are selection possibilities for the first five NFL teams with 1st-round picks.
Predictions lie with the Texans selecting DE Jadeveon Clowney from South Carolina. But, while Clowney is definitely a top prospect, Houston doesn’t have a huge need for him. What they really need is a quarterback, and a good one at that. Which is why it’s more likely for them to choose Johnny Manziel or Blake Bortles. For now, the Texans claim to be leaving all options open.
St. Louis Rams
The Rams will be choosing second and since they already have a franchise QB, they really need someone who can protect and defend. That’s where Auburn’s Greg Robinson comes in. He’s big, he’s fast, and he’s an ideal offensive lineman. Robinson is the whole package for St. Louis.
The Jaguars need a franchise quarterback to save the team. It seems likely for them to snatch up Blake Bortles, if he isn’t already gone by this point in the Draft. Bortles, coming from UCF, is a local talent that could really fair well in Jacksonville.
Analysts all over have deemed Bortles as the best quarterback in the 2014 draft class.
The Browns need help in the QB department as well which is why this prediction is a toss-up between Johnny Manziel and Teddy Bridgewater. Louisville’s star QB is extremely accurate and has a little better maturity in the pocket compared to Manziel.
The Raiders also have a striking need for a player like Johnny Manziel. If both Bortles and Bridgewater get picked up before they have a chance to select, Manziel will easily help to turn things around in Oakland.
