Clemson wide receiver Charone Peake has been lost for the remainder of the 2013 season, Dabo Swinney announced Wednesday. Peake suffered a torn ACL in practice this week and will apply for a medical red shirt according to a report by Clemson 247.
The junior wide receiver had been starting for Clemson this season so his loss is significant. The Tigers have options to play with, including moving Sammy Watkins to a different position to help open things up. Filing the extra spot in the starting receiving unit will be Adam Humphries. Humphries, a junior, played in all 13 games for the Tigers last season, catching 41 passes for 280 yards and one touchdown.
Peake had eight catches for 84 yards and a touchdown through two games this season and played in all 13 games for Clemson in 2012.
Clemson is off this weekend but will be on the road next week. Clemson visits North Carolina State for a Thursday night game in ACC play.
