Miami safety Deon Bush has been cleared to play in the Hurricanes season opener against FAU, although coach Al Golden does not know if that means Bush will actually play in the game. While speaking in the ACC coaches teleconference on Wednesday Golden made it sound like it’d be Bush’s choice.
“I don’t know. It’s up in the air right now. He’s cleared to play, so it’s just a function of how comfortable he feels,” said Golden. “If Deon feels comfortable and wants to move forward, then we’ll move forward with him. Deon’s smart, so it’s not going to be a function of him not understanding the defense or anything like that. . . . We’ll just monitor his progress and see how he is.”
Bush has been out since June when he had surgery to take care of a sports hernia. Before the surgery Bush had been listed as the starting safety on Miami’s depth chart.
